1. Your nearest public park

For the 2025 festival the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration opened 33 public parks across 21 districts for floating krathongs, from normal opening time until midnight. It is the easiest option for most residents: no tickets, short walks, and calmer than the river.

2025 programme; the BMA usually publishes the year's park list a few weeks before the festival.

2. Bring a natural krathong, not foam or bread

The city asks for krathongs made of natural materials such as banana leaf and banana trunk. Foam was banned in parks in 2025, and bread or food floats were discouraged because park ponds are closed systems where leftovers pollute the water.

Sky lanterns, fireworks and alcohol sales were also banned inside public parks in 2025.

3. Lumphini Park and the Khlong Toei parks

Lumphini Park in Pathum Wan, and Benjakitti and Benchasiri parks in Khlong Toei, were among the main venues on the 2025 list. All three are central and near BTS or MRT stations.

In 2025 the parks stayed open from their regular hours until midnight.

4. The Phra Nakhon parks by the old town

Santichaiprakarn, Saranrom and Rommaninat parks in Phra Nakhon were main venues in 2025, putting the festival within reach of the old town and the river.

Combine with a walk around the old town.

5. Loy Krathong by the lake at IMPACT Muang Thong Thani

EJAN Fair x Moon Rim Lake runs 21–25 November 2026 at IMPACT Lakeside, 16:00–24:00, with free entry. The programme includes floating krathongs on the lake and a full-moon water blessing at 20:00, plus food stalls and live music.

Muang Thong Thani, Nonthaburi — north of central Bangkok.
